Privacy Policy
Mountain Quest Trail ("we", "us") is a product of Mountain Quest Academy. We believe your family's information belongs to you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to run the planner and your subscription.
- We never sell your personal information or your children's information.
- Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see your full card number.
- You can export or delete your account at any time from My Account.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up we store your email address and an authentication identifier from Auth0 (our identity provider). If you sign in with Google we also store the name and avatar that Google sends us.
Subscription & billing
Stripe handles all payments. We receive and store a Stripe customer ID, the plan you selected, and the status of your subscription. We never store full card numbers, CVV, or banking credentials.
Family & learning data
You create profiles for each child ("hero") and select the courses they're working through. We store these profiles, the lessons your family marks complete, points and badges earned, reward redemption history, and any notes you add. This data is private to your family account.
Newsletter and free downloads
If you request the free Weekly Lesson Planner or join our newsletter, we store your email address, optional first name, opt-in confirmation timestamp, and request metadata (IP address, user agent) used to prevent abuse. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.
Operational data
We keep standard server logs (timestamps, request paths, error traces) and email delivery logs to keep the service healthy. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.
How we use information
- To deliver and improve the planner, including syncing your progress across devices.
- To send transactional emails (welcome, payment confirmation, password reset).
- To send optional product news and homeschool tips, if you opted in.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and to meet our legal obligations.
How we share information
We share data only with the service providers we need to operate:
- Auth0 — sign-in and identity
- Stripe — payment processing
- Supabase — database and file storage
- SendGrid — transactional and marketing email delivery
Each provider operates under its own privacy commitments and contractual data protection terms. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Children's privacy
Mountain Quest Trail is a parent-managed tool. Accounts are created and owned by adults. Child "hero" profiles contain only what the parent enters (a name or nickname, an optional age, the courses they're enrolled in, and progress on those courses). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights and controls
- View and update your account in My Account.
- Export your family's lesson progress on request.
- Delete your account at any time — we will remove your data within 30 days.
- Unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in the email footer.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Data is stored in managed databases with row-level security so that only your account can read your family's records. We review access regularly and follow least-privilege principles for staff and services.
International users
We operate from the United States. By using the service you consent to your information being processed in the United States. If you are in the EEA or UK and wish to exercise GDPR rights (access, correction, deletion, portability), contact us at the email below.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you by email and post the updated date at the top of this page.
